Tambra Faye Smith Cochran, 64, of Concord, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of May 8, 2025, after a courageous health journey. She was surrounded by the love of her husband, son and sisters, who stood by her side with unwavering devotion and care.
Tambra was born in 1960, in Concord, North Carolina, to the late Frances Brooks Summerell and Bobby Lee Summerell. A proud graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School, Class of 1978, Tambra went on to earn her nursing degree from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. She dedicated her life to serving others in the medical field, most recently as a nurse practice manager for both Christopherson Family Medicine and China Grove Family Medicine. Her leadership, steady presence, and boundless heart were felt deeply by patients, colleagues, and everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Tambra was deeply rooted in her faith and lived with purpose and compassion. She had a heart for medical missions and found joy in traveling to serve others. She was most at home when surrounded by her family-whether caring for her nieces and nephews, spoiling her great-nieces and nephews, or simply sharing laughter with family and friends. Her warmth, generosity, and wit were constant reminders of her love for life.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Stacy L. Cochran of Concord; her son, John "Casey" Cochran of Concord; her sisters, Bryte Summerell Lackey and husband Brian of Concord, and Donna Smith Strishock and husband Dan of Manassas, Virginia; her brothers, Kenneth Smith and James Smith, both of Concord; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tambra's presence was a gift to all who knew her.
In keeping with Tambra's wishes, no service will be held. Her family will honor her memory privately and with deep gratitude for the life she lived and the love she shared.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chara Missions Fund, a cause close to Tambra's heart and one that reflects her lifelong passion for helping others through faith and service. Chara Missions, PO Box 652, Concord, NC 28026. www.charamissions.org
Wilkinson Funeral Home is honored to serve the Cochran family and will continue to walk with them in the days ahead.
