Ted Wayne Auten

Ted Wayne Auten, 88 of Concord, N.C. passed away Sunday, September 6th, 2026.

A graveside service will be held at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 11th, 2026.

A Cabarrus County native, Ted was born July 24th, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant, N.C. to B.R. "Dock" Auten, and Helen Hinson Auten. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by wife of 61 years, Gwen, and sister Ann Barbee Lewis.

After graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School, Ted attended railroad school in Kansas City, Missouri. He then spent several years working for Southern Railroad. Soon thereafter, Ted joined the Air National Guard. Following his Military Service, he spent many years working at a concrete company, retiring as Plant Manager. Ted enjoyed antique car restoration, and fully remodeled his grandfather's 1930's Ford Model A. An avid gardener, Ted was hard-working, generous, and loved his family, friends, and neighbors.

Ted is survived by his son, Timothy Wayne Auten, and sister, Beverly Auten Heilig.
