Vickie Elaine Ridenhour Nixon, 77, of Stanley, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Salem United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Eric Lane, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 7, 2025at Wilkinson Funeral Home and again beginning at 1:00 PM on Friday at Salem UMC prior to the service.
Born on July 16, 1948, in Cabarrus County, Vickie was the daughter of the late Helen Lentz Ridenhour Joe Everette Ridenhour.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend whose life was centered around faith, family, and children. Vickie dedicated her life to nurturing young minds, serving as a preschool teacher at Hill Chapel and Davidson United Methodist Church preschools. She also served as a children’s Sunday School Teacher for over 45 years where she instilled spiritual values in generations of children. Her gift for crafts, her creativity, and her kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Vickie is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Gerald Franklin Nixon; daughter, Wendi Nixon Riddle and husband, Phil Riddle of Stanley; son, Jeremy Nixon of Stanley; grandchildren, Spencer and Savannah Riddle; brother, Darrell Ridenhour and wife, Sue of Concord; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
Memorials may be made in Vickie’s honor to Salem United Methodist Church in Denver or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, causes that were close to her heart.
