Carol Faggart Alexander

Virginia Carol Faggart Alexander, 85, of Concord, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Five Oaks Manor. Known throughout her life as Carol, she will be remembered for her deep faith, her devotion to her family, and a lifetime spent serving and caring for others.

A funeral service celebrating Carol's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Center United Methodist Church, with Rev. Don Newman and Rev. Brian Crady officiating. Burial will follow at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 prior to the service.

Carol was born March 4, 1941, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, to the late Mary Edith Litaker Faggart and the late George Grover Faggart. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clinton "Buddy: Monroe Alexander, and her son, Dwain Alexander.

She is survived by her son, Darron Alexander and wife, Karen; granddaughters, Whitney Hart and husband, J.R., and Denise Ervin and husband, Chris; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Carol graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1959 and continued her education at Evans Business College. She went on to spend 22 years as a teacher assistant at Harrisburg Elementary School, where she had the opportunity to encourage and care for generations of children before retiring in 2002.

Carol's faith was at the very center of her life. A devoted member of Center United Methodist Church, she served as a lay leader for many years and was a certified lay speaker through the United Methodist Church. She loved sharing her faith with those she encountered and sought to live her life in a way that reflected the love of Christ to others.

Her desire to serve extended well beyond her church. Following her retirement, Carol volunteered for 15 years with Hospice of Cabarrus County, offering her time and compassion to others during some of life's most difficult moments. Her dedication to serving others was recognized when she received the Governor's Award for Volunteer Service.

Carol enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and especially loved playing Bingo. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family. She was proud of the generations that followed her and found great joy in being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Carol had expressed that when the time came, she wanted the service celebrating her life to be upbeat and happy. That wish reflected the way she approached her life-with faith, gratitude, love for others, and the assurance that her faith carried her through every season.

Carol will be remembered for the many lives she touched through her years at Harrisburg Elementary, her service to her church and community, and her compassionate work with Hospice. Above all, she will be remembered for her steadfast faith and the love she shared with her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County or the Ronald McDonald House in Durham.
